I LOVE Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers.

SO so so so so much.  The show, as expected, was amazing.  I stood in the same place as last year, right on the stage off to the right of SK, directly in front of Kit, the bass/keys/keytar/accordian/tuba player.  First awesome part of the evening was Kit recognizing me from last year.  They were in the middle of ‘Cabin in the Woods’, and he sees me, smiles and mouths “HEEYYY!”

The guys were so great, and I was having tons of fun, when Stephen mentioned that the next song was a request….backstory:  I had emailed each of the guys before the show, and had semi-requested a song.  I told him that I was hesitant to make a request because I’m such a huge RA fan, and usually when he gets requests, that’s like putting a death wish on the song…I didn’t really expect to hear my song, but Stephen continues, “We really appreciate the person who requested this song.  It’s about missing someone and we don’t get to play it that often, so thank you.”  And then they start playing my song.  Amazing.

So the rest of the show was just fantastic.  I think that even if they had played the theme song for ‘Duck Tales’ (they did) the whole rest of the night on repeat, I would have been happy after seeing ‘It’s Only That I Miss You’ played live.  We stayed after the show and talked to all of the guys and got pictures with each of them.  Kit and I had our annual chat about Ryan Adams and how much they love him too.  It’s awesome how many little connections the Sixers have to RA.  Tom Schick is producing their next album (they’ve heard many many RA stories), Caitlin Cary (from Whiskeytown) sang on their last album, and it was produced by Mike Daly (Whiskeytown).  There are more, but I forget.

On another note, I told Jon that he should name his warbeasts.  He said that was gay.  I said that he should name one Bonnie & one Clyde (to go along with the whole “pedal stolen” idea.  SUPER gay, he said.  I’m telling Ryan (Peanut, Frankenstein, etc).   Oh, and Jon, Ryan totally OWNED you in the most recent battle of the Great Sock Wars.  And naming your instruments is gay…
